Reimagining the Permanent Collection Galleries
The only museum in the nation solely dedicated to Mexican art was looking to revitalize their permanent collection galleries after 10 years. Together with the Chief Curator, I worked to bring this concept to life through bold colors reflective of a vibrant culture, typography inspired by a rich history, and graphic patterns reminiscent of ancient civilizations. These elements were brought together to showcase a collection of art that tells the story of yesterday and today, and is propelled into the future by a dynamic community.
Graphic program consisted of:
• Environmental design: Gallery titles, selection of wall colors, wall graphics
• Exhibit graphics: Posters, labels
• Promotional brochure
• Web graphics: Website banner, Twitter and Facebook
Roles:
• Lead graphic designer
• Art direction
• Print production

Permanent collection main title.

Promotional Brochure

The promotional brochure design reflects the colors and environmental graphics used in the galleries.

I worked with curator in the selection of paint colors for the walls of each gallery that would be representative of the collections within each gallery.

Note the vertical line graphic on the wall. I created this element to be used throughout the galleries as a contemporary representation of the pattern in a traditional Mexican poncho, or zarape.

Each gallery had a unique title for which I designed a typographic treatment.

I selected striking and vibrant colors to represent different time periods in Mexican art: from pre-hispanic to contemporary.
